Nour Festival of Arts, London 2013

Nour Festival of Arts is rapidly becoming one of Europe’s most significant annual showcases of contemporary arts and culture from across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) as it is in the fourth year now and everyear is very successful. The festival takes place from 1st october to 30th November, throughout Kensington and Chelsea as it has more that 20 venues across.

Nour, which means light or illumination in many Middle Eastern languages, challenges preconceptions, sparks debate and provides insight into culture from across the MENA region.

The festival houses established artists and emerging talent to some of the foremost cultural institutions in the UK. It creates a diverse programme that offers an amazing array of attractions, such as six art exhibitions, sixteen film screenings, fifteen thought-provoking talks and debates, fourteen performances across dance and drama, music and poetry, four evenings of special events, three cookery classes, eight workshops, a Souk and a Tour Bus.

This year it welcomes new partners such as the Royal Albert Hall, Chelsea Theatre, Kensington and Chelsea College, the Gate Theatre and the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha. A highlight of this festival is the partnership with the Museum of Islamic Art, Doha which brings the remarkable exhibition Ferozkoh: Tradition and Continuity in Afghan Art to London’s Leighton House Museum.
